This is great to know if you want to buy the newest bread, but it’s hard to remember which color corresponds with which day. One way to keep track is that the colors are in alphabetical order (B G R W Y), but that’s kind of boring. So I wrote the following mnemonic (to the tune of Friday I’m In Love, by The Cure). Just sing this to yourself next time you’re in the supermarket and you’re guaranteed the freshest loaf!

I don’t care if Monday’s blue,
Tuesday’s Shrek and She-hulk’s hue,
Thursday’s bloody through and through,
And Friday’s like a dove.

Monday’s fun down by the bay,
Tuesday’s booze, St. Patrick’s Day,
Thursday’s burst aorta spray!
It’s Friday, like a dove.

Saturdaaaaaaay, wait!
Yellow light, anticipate!
Colored tags for every date…

I see blue skies, Monday’s clear,
Tuesday, Frankenstein is here,
Thursday’s Red like Helen Mirre-
en, Friday one more dove.

Monday blue bloods blithely bled!
Tuesday zombies eat your head!
Thursday red red red I said,
And Friday like a dove.

Saturdaaaaay’s fate:
Sunshine for the weekend, great!
Colored tags for every date!

Bread stuffed in a bag,
And so helpfully flagged,
To see you through with a colored tag.
Throwing out what’s old,
All covered in mold,
And head like a sled to where bread is sold.
Always take a big bite,
It’s such a fine delight
To see you eat whether it’s wheat or white.
You can never get enough,
Enough doughy fluff;
It’s Friday, wear white gloves!
